In a move aimed at easing compliance
for registered entities, the Ministry of
Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has announced an extension
for filing quarterly and annual returns under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. The order, issued on 12 November 2024, provides clarity and
relief to stakeholders navigating these regulations.
○ The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) received requests from
industry associations citing the need for additional time to comply with filing
requirements.
○ CPCB formally requested the
Ministry to extend the deadline from the earlier date of 31 August 2024.
The Ministry extended the timeline
under the provisions of Rule 9A of the
E-Waste (Management) Amendment Rules, 2024. This decision underscores the
government's balanced approach to environmental regulation and industrial
feasibility.
The government’s decision to extend
the filing timeline is a welcome move for businesses and the environment alike.
By providing this additional time, the Ministry demonstrates its commitment to
fostering compliance while ensuring effective implementation of the E-Waste
(Management) Rules, 2022.
Let’s use this opportunity to align
with the regulations and contribute to a cleaner, greener future!
